Long before there was Disney+, Marvel made a deal with Netflix to make a series of shows that would be “set within the MCU” and be known as the Defenders-verse. It would feature Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, the Defenders series (that brought them all together), and as time went on, we also got a Punisher series. Some of these were really good, others faltered and one (see: Iron Fist) was just straight-up bad. But when the shows were canceled in lieu of Disney+ being born, many hoped they would cross over.
This year and last, we did get that wish in part, as Matt Murdock and Kingpin, both played by the actors who portrayed them in the Netflix series, appeared in Spider-Man No Way Home and Hawkeye respectively. Those were cameos at best, and it just left fans wanting more. But now…they might just get it.
Because Variety has reporting that a Daredevil series is indeed coming to Disney+, with Matt Corman and Chris Ord attached to write and executive produce.
These two have done various shows across multiple networks in the past, so they are experienced hands. Granted, they weren’t the ones who made the first three seasons of the show on Netflix, but it would’ve been a big reach to try and get ALL the people behind the show back.
It should be noted that only Variety is reporting this as of right now. Marvel hasn’t confirmed it, nor has Charlie Cox, aka Matt Murdock. But if this outlet is stating it’s coming, then at the very least, we might hear more from it soon.
It’s unclear if this will be a reboot of the Netflix series, or a continuation of sorts, but hopefully we’ll find out more information soon, and rejoice at the revival.
