We start this piece off by noting that this is a RUMOR, but it’s a tantalizing one so we can’t resist talking about it. Peggy Carter has been in the MCU since Captain America: The First Avenger, and from the MOMENT that star Hayley Atwell was Peggy, fans loved her. So much so that she’s been brought back to the MCU an almost infinite amount of times when it was allowed. Including a Marvel one-shot about her, a short-lived TV series in Agent Carter (which was canceled WAY too soon) and naturally, a LOT of cameos.
But two of her more pronounced “features” in the MCU were as “variants’ of herself from the MCU timeline. Such as with the What If…? series that featured her becoming the super soldier instead of Steve Rogers and thus becoming Captain Carter. A role she then brought into live-action via Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And it’s due to that last performance that this rumor has emerged from DisInsider:
“Hot off of Doctor Strange 2 and What If…?, we are hearing not for sure if it’s a series, but we’re hearing a Captain Carter live-action series,” they said. “Series or movie, but something is in the works, live-action will be coming.”
This would be awesome in various ways, mainly because Hayley Atwell OWNS THIS ROLE and it’s wrong that she didn’t get to continue it outside of cameos and bit parts in the MCU. If this does come to pass (especially with the Multiverse now on the table in the MCU), then fans are going to be eager to get it as soon as possible.
Whether it’ll be based on the version from What If…? or Multiverse of Madness, we can’t say, but what we can say that as long as Atwell as at the helm of the character, we can expect Peggy to be a told boss.
