Welcome to another edition of News from the Front. It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these but it’s been a busy week and an even busier day and there’s no time like the present to get you up to speed on what’s been going on right here at Gameranx and elsewhere on the internet.
First up is our very own Gears of War 3 review, by Sam Machkovech, who likens the game to an action figure.
I’ve personally written a rebuttal of Bennett Ring’s article on Diablo III, which argued that the game should be in first person. He may have concluded that it should not be, but that didn’t dissuade me from writing a refutation of his arguments.
I’ve also written a piece on how the new XCOM is a lot like Fringe, which I’ve been hooked on every since I picked up the seasons on blu-ray.
Kyle Wattenmaker has written a piece on the death of Red Faction, and how THQ mismanaged and ultimately killed the franchise.
Elsewhere on the internet, Jim Sterling has written a piece on how “consoles have just become shitty PCs” for GameFront.
Finally, if you’re a fan of Skyrim, you might want to check out the competition that Dark Souls is putting up, with the recent revelation that it has more content than Skyrim.
