The Nintendo Switch lineup this year is as strong as it has been since 2017, and that was truly an all-star year. Even with the delays of Advance Wars and Breath of the Wild 2, there are still many games coming out this year to enjoy still. Including the recently released Nintendo Switch Sports, Splatoon 3 (that arrives in September), Xenoblade Chronicles 3 (which has been moved up to July), Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and of course, Mario Strikers Battle League. A game which many are excited for.
While the “Mario Sports Games” have had their own fanbases throughout their time, the Mario Strikers franchise occupied a special space for a group of gamers. Mario Strikers Charged brought even more fun to the series, but then there was no other entry, until Battle League was announced.
And today, Nintendo of Japan dropped the intro video for Battle League and it shows the intensity and variety of things you’ll be able to do in this game. Including how you can screw with other players for the sole purpose of getting the ball or preventing them from getting a goal, the special moves you can do to try and score a goal, the benefits of items and armor, and more.
All in all, this looks like it’s going to be a very fun entry, and that still doesn’t touch certain features that were revealed in previous videos. Like the online play, where you’ll be able to make your own “club” with up to 20 people, choose your outfits and “home arena” and then go and battle other clubs for supremacy!
And as you can see in the intro video, they’re leaning heavily into the anime aesthetic to deliver a lot of fire and flair.
We’ll find out just how much it shoots and scores when Mario Strikers Battle League arrives this June.
