Final Fantasy XIV Patch 3.1 Boasts 24 Person Airship Raid, New Primal Coming, And More

August 25, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

The next patch is coming with so much new content it’s hard to justify not jumping back in if you have this game.

Final Fantasy XIV is getting a host of content with Patch 3.1, including a 24 person raid on a gigantic airship.

This gigantic airship is called the Void Ark, and will functionally be similar to the alliance raids in the Crystal Tower series. The loot will be distributed as it was in the World of Darkness.

If you’re wondering how you’ll get to the airship, the patch will also be expanding the airship voyage system. Using Free Company airships, players can explore uncharted islands. They will have to defeat powerful monsters in the area to gather loot in these areas. In case you aren’t in a Free Company, Ishgard landing will have some airships going to the same location as well.

If you have the Ahriman and the Bomb Palanquin, the patch will give these and some other mounts flight.

Lords of Verminion, an April Fool’s joke riffing on the Genesis classic Vermillion, will become a real amusement park minigame where you can pit your minions against each other. There will also be an increase in Triple Triad cards and NPCs.

New main quests exploring the story of the Dragonsong War will be coming, as well as new beast tribe quests, starting with the Vanu Vanu. There are also two new dungeons, the Saint Mocianne Arboretum, essentially a gigantic greenhouse filled with little shop horrors, and Pharos Sirius hard mode, set in a lighthouse dungeon.

Lastly, there will be a new Primal on the way, and to be revealed in the in-game event called The Rising. The Rising will be held from August 27 to September 7.

Which of these are you looking forward to the most? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
