While most large PC games released through Steam provide gamers with the option to pre-load them ahead of their release, Konami says that the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will not be one of them.
Speaking on Twitter, MGS community manager Robert Allen Peeler said that the title will not support the feature despite the fact that it is a common practice.
"Unfortunately PC Steam will not have a preload option, however players will be able to preload on console," he said.
Upon further inquiry, Peeler was unable to provide any specific reason as to why this is the case, but said that he'd look into it by pinging the game's development team.
The game is set to officially unlock on Steam on August 31 at 5AM PDT. Console versions will be out on August 31 at 9PM PDT, but they will support pre-loading so you won't have to deal with a massive download upon the game's unlocking.
You can check out a new trailer of the game while you wait for its release.
