Final Fantasy XIII may not have been the best received title in the Final Fantasy franchise, but Square Enix isn't about to give up on the setting it's invested so much time and creativity upon. With the announcement that it plans to follow up on the much maligned game with Final Fantasy XIII-2, players who liked (or even hated) the original can expect to see improvements that build upon the strengths of the original, with none of the weaknesses.
Square Enix today released a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII-2, titled "Despair", which shows off some of the events that take place after the first game. They introduce us to new characters, new locations and some kind of time paradox at the heart of the game's storyline.
It should be noted that the characters in the video aren't properly synced up with the English voices, that were only recently added to the game. We can expect to see these things fixed when the game is released.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is set for a February 2012 on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
