Unreal Engine 4’s Faceware Live Integration Looks Amazing

August 12, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Faceware tech looks pretty damn neat.

Epic Games and Faceware Technologies have announced the launch of the Faceware Live plugin for the powerful Unreal Engine 4.

The new technology uses facial tracking through video, and uses the features of your face as markers and extracts motion that developers can then implement onto video game characters.

“Faceware Technologies has a long history of creating some of the most iconic and realistic faces in games and films,” said Peter Busch, vice president of business development at Faceware Technologies, “while Epic’s Unreal Engine is known for helping create some of the best-selling games ever. Integrating our real-time technology with their premier game engine was just a natural fit.”

In a newly released video, we get to see how the Faceware tech can be applied to video game characters by driving a character's facial animation in real time, which display through the Unreal Persona animation system.
