Mafia 3 has been officially revealed with a gameplay trailer and some details about who you'll be playing and where it'll be set.
Set in 1968 New Orleans, players will take on the role of Lincoln Clay, a Vietnam veteran with a penchant for violence. There will be plenty of opportunities to create mayhem in the game's open-world environment, which is run by opposing gangs.
The game is set to draw inspiration from late '60s pop culture with the city of New Orleans as a backdrop to all the action. As the protagonist, Clay will have to work his way up to the top of the food chain and rule the city. You'll attack hideouts, take over new properties and interact with characters from Mafia 2.
As a third person shooter, Clay can take out his opponents in unarmed combat and a host of firearms. Players can choose to spare these gang members' lives or murder them after torturing information out of them. How you choose to play the game will reflect in the city as you progress through the story.
More details about the game are expected to surface over the course of the week. In the meantime, check out the trailer.
Mafia 3 is slated for release on the PC, Xbox One and PS4 in 2016.
