Comcept and Studio 4C have posted their final updates for their respective Kickstarters for Red Ash. While the animation project was the only one that got funded, both are entering production.
Comcept explained that since their Kickstarter failed, Red Ash The Indelible Legend won’t have any crowdfund backers. This also means they won’t be able to produce any rewards. This would have included a physical copy of the game, a physical art book, t-shirts, and a Gofer plush toy.
While Comcept expressed disappointment the crowdfund failed, they made sure to thank the 6,550 backers who raised $ 519,999 of the $ 800,000 goal. Although funding will now come solely from Fuze, they pledge not to disappoint fans.
Comcept also indicated they would now be more silent regarding the game’s development moving forward, capping off a largely unsuccessful marketing and visibility campaign in the most ironic way. Because they failed to convince fans, partly from blowback for Mighty No 9, partly due to growing distrust of Keiji Inafune, Red Ash The Indelible Legend has reverted from crowdfunding back to traditional development.
In the meantime, Studio 4C’s Red Ash Magicicada raised $ 162,882, and will be shifting towards further crowdfunding via Japanese crowdfund MotionGallery.
So, whether you were skeptical or hopeful, Red Ash The Indelible Legend is still a go for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Perhaps it’s better this way, so that Comcept can regroup and actually deliver on the promise of a Mega Man Legends spiritual successor.
