A Prequel For Aeterna Noctis Has Been Revealed For PC

March 31, 2022 by John McDonald

Aeternum Game Studios have today announced that there will be an Aeterna Noctis prequel game coming to stores in the not-too-distant future. A game that has been described as a “roguelite game that combines dungeon crawler mechanics with fast-paced combat” will be coming to Steam. Now, I hope we didn’t get your hopes up because there is no specific release date planned, but the hope is that it will launch on Early Access first before a full launch is planned for some time in 2024.

The game which has been titled ‘Summum Aeterna’ will be a kind of origin story to the highly acclaimed 2-D platform game Aeterna Noctis which was released in December 2021. So, you can expect more of the same when this game is released, which includes unique and gorgeous aesthetics, and thrilling combat mechanics.

But we have to keep you interested until then, so let us share some specific story details with you right now. You will take on the role of the King of Darkness, a mighty and powerful warlord who has been condemned to eternal life. You will explore mysterious dungeons that are laden with treasures beyond your wildest dreams, but beware of the traps, armies of enemies, and a heap of powerful bosses that are aiming to stop you in your tracks.

That’s not it though because you can check out some more key details below:

  • Summum Aeterna includes an original feature that hasn’t been seen before in this genre, special seeds that can generate a unique dungeon with several enemy behaviors, rewards, random encounters, and an even bigger map size.
  • A brutal and faced paced combat system; mastering it is the key to success so you can murder everyone that gets in your way. You have a selection of weapons to choose from, ranging from noble swords, shields, cool pistols, and even scythes (in case you want to do some gardening).
  • Custom adventures where you can define exactly what your destiny should be. Each dungeon you complete will offer several rewards, including seed genes. These seed genes can be used to personalize the attributes of your world, enemy’s stats, with every dungeon being different from the last
  • And of course, the gorgeous artwork that made the previous game so well-loved will also be a huge part of this game. Beautifully hand-drawn animations – that have to be seen to be believed – litter this game from start to finish, offering up an extremely unique flavor which is a testament to the artists themselves.

So, watch out for news about the Aeterna Noctis prequel when it drops, and as we’ve already said, Early Access is where you will be able to check it out before the official launch in a couple of years.
