Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro are getting the band back together. Silent Hills may have been canceled and their working relationship with Konami may be all but over, but the duo are still keeping in touch and have plans to develop a new game.
Hideo Kojima is best known for his work on the Metal Gear Solid series of games, and Guillermo del Toro directed countless cult-favorite films including Hellboy and the more recent Pacific Rim.
“We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills],” said del Toro in an interview with IGN.
In spite of rumors to the contrary, del Toro said that Silent Hills was still in the "planning stages" and that the goal of the two creators was to "really push the boundaries" of the PlayStation 4 console and create "a game that really messes with your head."
"One of the great moments in Metal Gear [Solid] was Psycho Mantis. The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that," he said.
Only the two of them know what future games they'll be working on, but we intend to report on their progress every step of the way.
