AbleGamers, a charity dedicated to reviewing games on the basis of their accessibility and providing information on assistive technology, will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) at the Smithsonian Institute tomorrow.
Mark Barlet, AbleGamers' founder, will present an overview of the advances which are being made in gaming assistive technology as part of the ‘Smithsonian’s Festival ADA: 25 Years of Disability Civil Rights’ event which runs from noon to 16:45 daily through to Sunday at the National Museum of American History.
The museum is located at 14th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW Washington, D.C., 20001 and AbleGamers accessibility experts will be demonstrating the latest technologies which enable players with disabilities to access the games they love.
“This is a dream come true and one of the biggest honors I’ve ever received,” Mark Barlet commented in a press release. “I could’ve never imagined when I started a little blog to help people with disabilities figure out how to keep gaming when the joy gets taken away due to a disability that I would be at the Smithsonian Institute sharing my passion and our international foundation‘s knowledge on how video games can help anyone with a disability.”
Barlet's discussion will take place at 13:00 Eastern time Friday, July 24th. You can find the full list of events on the Smithsonian's website.
