Patrice Desilets has shed even more light on Ancestors: A Human Odyssey, and its truly unique nature. Essentially, it will come out as a series of episodic sandboxes.
Desilets looked at it as a different way of approaching episodic games, which he feels generally lack replayability. So, Ancestors may be narrative driven, but even after you have played through the narrative portions, there will be a sandbox waiting for you to engage in.
Each episodic sandbox will focus on a breakthrough in human civilization, including the discovery of fire, domesticating animals, penicillin, and the first Moon landing. None of these scenarios will have anything to do about war or fighting. Instead, the focus is on human breakthroughs that helped civilization progress and survive.
Desilets says he has 20 scenarios in mind, and each one will get the AAA Hollywood treatment.
