Bungie has revealed a sweeping rebalance of the weapons in Destiny. The rebalance has depowered the most powerful and favored guns in the game.
At the top of the pack, Gjallarhorn is receiving a reduction in Wolfpack Round damage. As the crown jewel of the Destiny armory, this change is the most impactful, and of course, it is indisputably for the better. The Gjallarhorn was simply too powerful compared to other guns.
The Ice Breaker auto generates ammo, and now that rate has been slowed down. It now replenishes one bullet every eight seconds, instead of every five seconds.
The Black Hammer, on the other hand, gets a severe blow. It is known for its ammo generating perk, but now that perk gets bullets from your inventory instead of thin air.
After that, the hand cannons, especially Thorn, The Last Word, and Hawkmoon, are all getting nerfs. Thorn loses poison damage but it will now also stack. The Last Word loses its range. Hawkmoon’s nerfs are focused on its luck-based perks. Other hand cannons get reductions in range and accuracy overall.
Practically all guns receive rebalances, perhaps to the disadvantage of the best players who had the best guns, and putting everyone in more equal footing.
All these changes will come with the Taken King. You can read full notes here.
