Cyberpunk 2077 IP & The Witcher Are Currently Primary Focus At CD Projekt Red

November 29, 2021 by Dennis Patrick

Don’t count Cyberpunk 2077 out just yet.

For years, CD Projekt Red was a game development studio that had a solid fan base. This was a studio that brought out the incredible RPG franchise, The Witcher. You’re likely aware of just how popular that IP has become. What started out as novels turned into a thrilling video game franchise and later a hit Netflix streaming series. Despite their massive successes in the past, the studio did have some trouble lately.

Their follow-up title after The Witcher franchise was a hot mess. Cyberpunk 2077 was incredibly hyped and anticipated. Fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on the game. Despite the delays, CD Projekt Red managed to get Cyberpunk 2077 out into the marketplace in 2020. Unfortunately, it was released with a slew of problems that forced the developers to delay expansions. Instead, the studio continued to work on the base game to get rid of the major bugs and technical issues found by so many players trying to get through the game.

While the game is now far better off today, there are still updates rolling out. Likewise, we’re still waiting for the expansions to come out. Now it looks like the IP will continue to see development time under CD Projekt Red. It’s been reported that a Polish media outlet, Rzeczpospolita had a chance to speak with CD Projekt Red president Adam Kiciniski. During their conversation, it was noted that the focus is still on their significant franchises, Cyberpunk 2077 & The Witcher.

If that’s the case, then there could be a potential sequel coming out. Cyberpunk 2077 is an exciting world to explore. There are various corporations, gangs, and unique environments. To see how the world changes after the events of V or before the campaign narrative would likely still create a significant buzz. However, first, the studio is still working on the expansions and their next-generation title release. Hopefully the next big releases are not as problematic as the base Cyberpunk 2077 game.
