The Dwarf Ranger known as Bardin Goreksson in Warhammer lore has joined the cast of characters in Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, Swedish developer Fatshark announced today.
Goreksson is the latest playable character to be announced for the game, which includes four others, one of which is still unknown. The Dwarf Ranger will join the likes of the Empire Soldier Markus Kruber, the Waywatcher Wood Elf Kerillian, and the Witch Hunter Victor Saltzpyre. Goreksson can wield a variety of melee and ranged weapons, such as a Dwarven great axe, Dwarven war hammer, Dwarven crossbow, Dwarven hand gun, and the Grudge-Raker, which seems to serve the situational purpose of a shotgun.
Goreksson’s backstory and how he came to the city of Ubersreik involves him coming across a Dwarven mine, in which he finds the corpses of four Dwarves and one “ratman.” On the bodies, he finds two pieces of a map to Karak Zorn – “the infamous lost hold of the Dwarfs that lay hidden somewhere along the Worlds Edge Mountains in the Southlands.” However, he is unable to decipher the map on his own and must venture to Ubersreik where he has been told a Dwarfish tome exists in a shop of antiquities that can help him understand the map.
Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is a cooperative first person shooter and action game where players play as one of the aforementioned characters and battle hordes of Skaven that have overrun the city of Ubersreik. Other locales known to Warhammer lore that will be visited include the Under Empire and Magnus Tower.
The fantasy co-op FPS is set to be released in 2015 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
