Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 4 will not be releasing on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
In fact, as this Bethesda employee has confirmed on NeoGAF, it will not be possible to play the game at all on these 7th gen platforms,as they have done things with the game that are simply not possible on these consoles.
This follows the official reveal of Fallout 4 itself, which led to speculation that 7th gen ports would be revealed later down the line. Now, we know for a fact that this won't be happening.
Fallout 4's reveal honestly had some fans certain that it would still be coming to these platforms, thanks to a perception that the trailer was not pushing the graphical capabilities of 8th generation platforms to their limits. Perhaps the final game will prove this to be true, but this is not the only way to use 8th generation console power. Fallout 4 may prove to have a broader, more detailed world than other open world games liked it. Bethesda may also prove the wait worthwhile with a large amount of content. Who knows? Perhaps the rest of the game will look better than the trailer has led us to believe as well.
