There doesn’t seem to be any shortage of video game live-action adaptations coming out into the marketplace. However, one video game movie adaptation might have some fans a bit more interested. I’m referring to Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City, an adaptation that’s been more focused on the source material. Several adaptations that have come out seem to fail in capturing the core fan base.
With Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, we should see a narrative centered around the first two Resident Evil games. While the cast of characters might not directly look like their video game counterparts, this was by choice. The director, Johannes Roberts, has decided to go with actors that can act more like the character than straight-up look like individuals. While the first movie has yet to make its way out into the marketplace, the director is already looking to adapt next.
The director recently spoke with SFX, and it was during the conversation, Resident Evil 4 came up. That is one game Johannes has thoroughly enjoyed. Needless to say, the director would love to adapt that game next and bring in some characters to the big screen as well. Resident Evil 4 is a massive installment for the series so it should be interesting to see a movie adaptation happen.
That’s likely not the only adaptation that the director is interested in. There are quite a few installments to the Resident Evil franchise. Whether it’s spin-off installments to mainline releases, there are a ton of great games and synopsis’s to pick through. Currently, Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City launches on November 24, 2021.
