Fans of the Batman comics will have already guessed who Batgirl is, but for those not in the know, she’s Barbara Gordon, Commissioner Gordon’s daughter.
Batgirl was revealed as a playable character earlier this week, who will be featuring in the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight as the star of the short story DLC “A Matter of Family.”
Since the reveal, fans of the game have been speculating on the identity of the character, who could have been either the aforementioned Barbara Gordon, or Cassie Cain, the daughter of the League of Assassins member David Cain.
Rocksteady Games cofounder Sefton Hill confirmed on Twitter that the role of Batgirl will assumed by Barbara Gordon.
Given that she uses a wheelchair in the game proper, it goes without saying that the DLC will take place prior to the events of the main game, as a prequel. It’ll be interesting to see how they tie all of the story together.
Hill also announced plans to release two behind-the-scenes videos in the coming days and weeks–the first of which was released today, revealing the characters’ voice actors. Watch that here.
The game is out on June 23, 2015 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
