Among Us was one of the biggest breakout video game hits from 2020. But with that said, this game was not something that launched in 2020. While being available for a few years now, the game blew up when so many of us around the world were forced to quarantine. Social distancing ourselves, online social games like Among Us allowed us to join online for some thrilling fun.
Since this game was such a massive hit in 2020, the developers had gone back to bring out more content. In a future update, the developers had been promising players new roles coming to the game. We know that multiple roles are coming, but we only have information on one of the roles so far. Recently the developers, InnerSloth, finally unveiled one new role that an Impostor can acquire. The role is called Shapeshifter, and it gives the impostor the ability to transform into a different player.
How this works is that the player can transform into any living crewmember for a limited time. This takes just a second to do, but players can see you transform if you’re in the line of sight. From there, you’ll be able to take the form of a different player of your choice. That could create some major chaos if you play the Shapeshifter role creatively. Of course, that doesn’t mean you don’t have some options as to what the Shapeshifter can bring in a game.
There are setting options for those creating the game. For example, you can create how likely an Impostor can become a Shapeshifter. The settings can also allow players to determine how long a Shapeshifter can keep its form before returning to its original appearance. Likewise, we know that there will be additional roles for the crew when the next major update rolls out. Unfortunately, we don’t know just what the upcoming roles are just yet.
