Guitar Hero is getting a reboot and it's going to be arriving with a huge amount of applause if Activision does it right. Today, it was revealed that the series' revival would come in the form of Guitar Hero Live.
The game will feature crowds that react directly to how well you're playing on stage. While this was a lesser feature of past Guitar Hero games, it will be one of the main focuses of the new franchise incarnation.
Furthermore, the controller is getting changed up quite a bit. In the previous models, Guitar Hero controllers sported five buttons for your five fingers. In Guitar Hero Live, players will have to adjust to a completely new button layout.

As you can see, there are six buttons in all. The interesting part about this controller is its splitting of buttons. The buttons span a smaller length of the neck than before, but are far more complex. This will almost certainly raise the skill cap of Guitar Hero, if it wasn't already blisteringly difficult in the first place.
Guitar Hero Live is expected to arrive in August later this year, which is welcome news, considering the huge lack of good music and rhythym games currently on the market.
