Grand Theft Auto V recently made its way to the PC gaming market. It has topped the Steam sales records for the past couple of weeks, beating out brand new releases like Pillars of Eternity. While the triumphant game is sitting pretty on the personal computing platform now, things weren't always so balmy.
When the game was first announced, it was only revealed to be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It then moved to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in HD remasters. This left the gaming populace a bit confused, because there was still no word as to where the PC versions were. Gamers were beginning to wonder if they were even in development.
In an interview with PC Gamer, a group of Rockstar Games staff members revevaled that Grand Theft Auto V was always coming to the PC.
“We were always going to bring GTA 5 to PC. We planned from day one for a PC build and we made technical decisions based off the fact that we would be doing a PC version of the game."
“While we started development of the PC version quite early, we decided to focus the bulk of our attention on the PS3 and XB360 versions first in order to push that as far as we possibly could before turning our attention to the PS4 and Xbox One versions."
“And then using the shared architecture underpinning the new consoles to help ourselves ramp up into the PC version and push the game as far as we possibly could, knowing we would have the opportunity to make the game look and feel better than it ever has.”
