Destiny Adding Item Lock to Prevent Weapon Loss

April 10, 2015 by Stephen Daly

Rate of ammo drops in p-vs-p to drop.

Destiny developer Bungie is rolling out a feature which will prevent players from accidentally dismantling their favourite weapons.

On the game's official blog, UI Engineer Daniel Hanson discussed a new way to lock important gear so it won't be accidentally deleted during inventory clear-outs or similar events.

"One recurring story we keep seeing involves Legendary and Exotic gear getting accidentally dismantled by errant pets and over-enthusiastic children," Hanson wrote. "We decided to empower players to protect their precious gear with Item Locking."

To protect items in your inventory, highlight it and click down using the right thumbstick. Once done, it will remain locked until specifically unlocked.

Bungie is also reducing the rate of ammo drops in player-vs-player matches and high damage weapons will become rarer.
