Troy Baker is one of the most well-known voices in video games-oriented acting. In fact, his growing popularity has allowed him to carve out an enormous demand for his work. Baker recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly in an interview about acting, his upcoming work and the relationship he has with fellow actor Nolan North.
First, Baker made his gaming bias known. His love for video games shines through in his work. This love just makes the quality of his acting even greater.
“Acting is acting is acting,” Baker tells EW. “But there’s something specifically about telling a story within this medium that I really, really dig. Probably because I’m a gamer.”
Baker then touched on his relationship with Uncharted actor Nolan North, touching on the so-called "rivalry" that people think they have between one another.
“Nolan is a dear friend, and we laugh about the rivalry people think he and I have,” he said. “I’m sure this will put it to bed once people play this game”—as he plays Sam, the older brother to North’s Nathan Drake.
The actor then said that he always wants to serve players and the profession of acting in his work.
“That becomes my art,” he said. “Not the thing I created. I don’t want that to ever serve me. I just want to serve it.”
