There are a ton of video game movie adaptations out there. Unfortunately, few and far between are these adaptations considered to be good. It’s hard to capture the enjoyment of these games and adapt them into a different medium. As a result, most films are loosely based on the source material they come from. A good portion of these loosely based films is hardly comparable to the video game franchise.
When it comes to the Resident Evil franchise, video games have thrived over the years. Ever since the debut title came out on the original PlayStation, fans have picked up new installments regularly. Then it wasn’t long after that we started to get movie adaptations. Unfortunately, those first blockbuster films were hardly comparable to the Resident Evil video game franchise. Although, there’s another film coming out to change that up. Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City is a film adaptation of the first two Resident Evil installments.
The films will showcase the different iconic characters and the premise of the two video game narratives. However, you will find that the director wanted to ensure that the movie played close attention to the video games. A new trailer has been released with the director and writer behind the project, Johannes Roberts, giving insight into the film’s inspiration. We even have a new teaser going over some of the scenes compared to the video game.
Currently, you can check out the latest teaser within the Tweet embedded above. Meanwhile, the official trailer can be viewed above. For those interested, the film release will come out to theaters on November 24, 2021. That’s just next month, so hopefully, fans can hold out a few more weeks before they can sit in on this next big Resident Evil chapter.
