Capcom has finally added local co-op to Resident Evil: Revelations 2 on the PC, as they promised they would.
There was a bit of an outcry over the lack of the feature when the game was first released because the game's Steam page had advertised the feature despite it being missing from the game at the time.
In any case, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 now supports split-screen local co-op in both campaign and raid modes, and is currently in beta on Steam ahead of its full implementation into the game. Anyone who's interested can opt-in to try it out.
Capcom says that the mode isn't totally polished but wanted to release it into the hands of players as soon as possible. As such, the UI doesn't reflect this addition just yet. Here's what you'll have to do to get it to work:
- Campaign Mode – simply press the START button on Player 2 game pad upon entering active gameplay. Ending the game or exiting to the main menu will automatically return to full screen single player mode
- Raid Mode – pressing the START button on Player 2 game pad in the Vestibule (the staging area) will activate split-screen mode. Select character, configure your loadout, and select Raid missions as normal. Exiting the Vestibule and backing out to the main menu will automatically end split-screen mode
- Alternatively, simply disconnecting the 2P controller will force the game back into full screen single player mode
Both controllers you own must support Xinput, or it won't work. So you'll need 2 Xbox 360/Xbox One controllers to get it going.
