The 4X strategy game has long been a PC-only affair, with only the likes of Civilization: Revolution coming out for the Xbox 360. Most of the games in the genre, which sees players colonizing, expanding, and sending their starships or legions out into the great unknown, have been PC-exclusive releases.
Worlds of Magic is one game to depart from that trend, and has been announced for the PlayStation 4.
The console port of Wasteland Interactive's game is being worked on by Polish publisher Teyon, which typically publishes games for Nintendo platforms in the region. Worlds of Magic will be the publisher's first PS4 release. The game will be out on the PC on March 19, with the PS4 version coming out in the third quarter this year.
Worlds of Magic, like other games in the genre, features procedurally generated maps that span "7 planes of existence." There are more than 10 different environments and 80 different military units, and a magic system not unlike Master of Magic's that allows players to create their own spells. Battles take place on small grid-based maps with a combat system based on d20.
