The Forest is an upcoming horror title that combines a breathtaking atmosphere with simple survival and exploration based gameplay. Since it's arrival on Early Access on Steam in back in May 2014, it has received generally positive reviews and become one of the most anticipated works in progress on the entire platform. Now, Endnight Games is bringing that experience to console, announcing that The Forest will be making its way to PlayStation 4.
In The Forest, the player takes on the role of the lone survivor of an airplane crash, building shelter and tools and fending for themselves as they navigate the unfamiliar landscape and hostile mutated cannibals inhabiting the island. An online multiplayer mode was introduced in a recent patch, however it isn't clear how much that will factor into the PS4 version, though the developers promise a rewarding Share experience. So far, the game has been received well, earning a "Very Positive" rating summary on Steam, with over 22,000 user reviews.
