Metroid Dread Trailer Shows Off A Living Chozo

Aug 27, 2021 Dennis Patrick

A long believed extinct species still very much alive in Metroid Dread.

Metroid fans are waiting on two big video game installments. First, we know that there is a new installment in the works for the Metroid Prime series. However, the following video game installment to hit the marketplace will be Metroid Dread. This particular game also received a brand new trailer which you can check out in the video embedded above. Here we get a look at a Chozo that will be thriving on the planet ZDR.

Within Metroid Dread’s latest trailer, we get a look at various environments players will be going through. Likewise, this trailer even showcases some mechanics that Samus will have at her disposal. Not only will there be a variety of move sets that we’re used to seeing in this franchise, but a few others as well. There is an assortment of new attacks like a storm missile that can fire a barrage of smaller missiles. Cross bombs act as a means to fire out damage in four directions. Likewise, we have a flash shift mechanic that allows Samus to teleport into the desired direction.

However, what might surprise some fans is the fact that there is a Chozo in the trailer. This species has been featured in the video game franchise for the various ruins they left behind. In this game, players are greeted by one, and it doesn’t appear to be all that friendly. Of course, we don’t know just what it intends to do with Samus after capturing her just yet. Again, the interaction between the two can be found in the video embedded above.

If you’re a bit out of the loop with the game, Metroid Dread takes place after Metroid Fusion. After the Galactic Federation sent out Extraplanetary Multiform Mobile Identifier robots to the planet ZDR to deal with the X parasites, the EMMIs ended up going rogue. So now Samus is forced to travel to the planet and deal with the EMMIs, the parasites and potentially Chozo’s. Players can pick up a copy of Metroid Dread exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on October 8, 2021.
