After Ken Levine’s announcement last February that Irrational Games will be shutting down, the studio’s website has revealed new job openings.
Levine’s announcement came from the wake of the release of Bioshock Infinite. In his open letter, he revealed that he wanted to shift gears into making smaller games, and would subsequently help his former employees get work inside and outside 2K Games. He also relinquished ownership of Bioshock over to 2K Games.
Levine intended to keep 15 employees with him, and a spokesman for Irrational later revealed that 75 were laid off, 70 of whom were permanent employees.
Irrational is now looking for a senior programmer and IT manager, implying that they are not lacking for rank and file developers, but may need new management.
It is not quite clear if this is the same 15 person team whom Ken Levine has retained, since the name has not come up for a while. Take-Two Interactive went on record to deny that that team would keep the name.
Is this a new Irrational Games, separate from Levine’s team, now working on the next Bioshock game? Or is it Levine’s team, working on some completely new, indie scale projects? Share your opinions with us in the comments.
