The follow-up to Battlefield Hardline will see the series move back away that game's cops and robbers style to the franchise's traditional military setting.
Describing the 2016 installment as a "fun new, Battlefield," EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgenson told the UBS Global Technology Conference "That will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game," adding, "more to come on that."
It seems likely the game will be Battlefield 5 rather than another Bad Company game or Hardline follow-up.
Speaking to the New York Times last year, Battlefield 4's executive producer Patrick Bach said he'd like to see, "More features, more extras, more destruction," noting that "every new game needs to be the next big thing".
Last month EA CEO Andrew Wilson explained why the company hasn't annualised the series like Call of Duty, stating "We want to give Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline players more time to enjoy these games and immerse themselves in a game, the live service, and the community."
Also at the UBS confernece, Jorgenson said EA believes the Xbox One is catching up quickly on the PS4.
