We have some new gameplay footage of Assassin’s Creed Unity, showcasing several elements.
You may already know of the Assassins’ abilities to traverse the rooftops. In Revolutionary Paris, you can do even more than appears possible, as you can literally step on gargoyle heads on the way. It’s worth exploring the rooftops themselves to find out what seemingly unpassable areas are actually easy for Arno.
Did you go to the rooftops to look across the map? When you find the right area to do this, you will get a prompt to press B to Synchronize. The game will then pause somewhat to give you a paronama view of the surrounding area. Ubisoft seems to want you to actually memorize Paris and its many buildings. You do not get minimaps during this panorama view, so you will need to keep everything you see in mind.
This footage also shows extensive use of smoke bombs. You can use it to get away from guards and soldiers who have already sighted you. From afar, you can throw them from the rooftops to give friends cover. Surprisingly, you may rely on smoke bombs for most of the game.
Finally, the footage shows a lot of multiplayer in action, and coordination is key to efficient play. Taking out several rooms of guards together kind of approximates Gauntlet. You can loot the guards after they’ve been killed, adding a small competitive element.
Assassin’s Creed Unity will be released on November 11 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
