Koei Tecmo promises to support Hyrule Warriors for a good long while with paid DLC, and like the strategy of a crafty drug dealer, the first taste will be free. The company announced at Tokyo Game Show that there are five upcoming packs to be released through February, starting with a free update that makes playable the three main villains: Cia, Volga, and Wizzro. Along with Ganondorf, Zant, and Ghirahim, this game will give you plenty of opportunities to be bad!
After that comes the Master Quest Pack on October 16 for 1200 yen (about $11), which adds a new weapon, scenario, adventure map, and two costumes. November brings the Twilight Princess Pack also for 1200 yen, which adds a new character, weapon, adventure map, and two costumes. January welcomes a Majora's Mask Pack for 1200 yen again, introducing two new characters, an adventure map, and three new costumes. Finally, February drops the Boss Pack for 500 yen (about $4.60), adding two new game modes.
The free update arrives on September 30 in Japan, while Europe will get it on October 16. Aside from that, the release schedule in Europe looks to be the same as the Japanese one, so it's fair to assume that the American release schedule will be identical or very similar as well. And should you pre-purchase all four paid packs, you'll be able to download a Dark Link costume immediately.
Hyrule Warriors arrives on Wii U in the US on September 26.
