Destiny Has Officially Gone Gold

August 25, 2014 by Tony Ponce

You won’t be able to share loot with friends, although a later update might add that feature.

In Bungie's weekly development update, the studio announced that Destiny had finally gone gold. The disc are being pressed and will be on their way to stores in time for the September 9 release.

As VG24/7 noted while thumbing through the post and the accompanying comments, you won't be able to trade loot with friends. You can trade them amongst Guardians you have under your own account, but sharing with others is a no-go. At least, not at first. Bungie may add the feature in the future if there are enough fan requests.

Finally, if you happen to be at PAX Prime in Seattle this weekend, you might be interested in the Destiny panel the team is running. It will be held on Sunday, August 31, at the Hedgehog Theater, and featured panelists include Luke Smith (Design Lead), Ryan Ellis (Technical Art Director), M.E. Chung (Design Lead), and Luke Timmins (Engineering Lead). If you decide to attend dressed as a character from the game, the team "might draft you into service with our honor guard."

Destiny descends on PS4, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 on September 9.
