This week in Miiverse, Sakurai’s Super Smash Bros posts reveal some new included characters, as well as some features for the 3DS version.
On Monday, we learned that Kirby series antagonist Nightmare Wizard will be an assist trophy. Nightmare Wizard is antagonistic to Dedede as well as Kirby, and he also remains a loose cannon in Super Smash Bros. When he appears, the screen will go dark for a few moments, so players will literally fight blindly. If you stay on your toes, you can predict when it goes dark and use it to your advantage.
On Tuesday, Sakurai revealed that Samus’Metroid: Zero Mission ending outfits will be available as alternate costumes for Zero Suit Samus. You can read more about it here.
On Wednesday, treasure chests and Mimicuties were revealed for Smash Run, both of which were lifted from Kid Icarus Uprising. While treasure chests will yield valuable items like stat boosts, custom parts, and Smash Run powers, Mimicuties (seen in the featureimage above) will hit you with a barrage of deadly kicks if you approach them. In Kid Icarus Uprising, you occasionally get treasure after beating a Mimicutie. Is it possible that this will also carry over to Smash Run?
On Thursday, Demon Lord Ghirahim was unveiled as an assist trophy. This Skyward Sword antagonist can be summoned by anyone, even Zelda or Link. Sakurai did not reveal what attack or effect Ghirahim will have on the battlefield.
Today, we learned details of the Sounds collection section ofSuper Smash Bros for 3DS. The top screen shows the track title, the source, and the seek bar. If the song is a remix, it will have the words ‘Remix’ on top of the title. The word remix will be colored white if it is a remix from prior versions of the track older Smash Bros games, and pink if it is a new mix for this version.
For this game, Sakurai and company not only gave each stage two tracks, but they also added more tracks just for Smash Run, and more to just listen to in your Sounds collection. On top of that, you can also listen to the character voices in the Sounds collection. You can also make a track list for the tracks that will play during Smash Run. They even included a ‘Play in Sleep Mode’ function, effectively turning your 3DS / 2DS into a portable music player.
To top it off, Sakurai revealed that they are going to start sharing songs from the game on the official website. You can listen to some of those songs now here.
Super Smash Bros will be released for 3DS on October 3, and on the Wii U in Q4 2014.
