Rage Features Engineering Gadgets, In-Game Economy, The Wingstick

July 14, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

id Software’s upcoming FPS Rage will feature a new weapon called the Wingstick, engineering gadgets that the player can build, and an in-game economy.

id Software and Bethesda have released a new trailer of RAGE titled "The Arsenal." This behind-the-scenes look of the first person shooter talks about what we can expect from its first person shooter action.

Every new environment you enter will give you a new weapon, a new ammo type or an upgrade to keep the experience fresh. As you progress through new environments, your arsenal—as the developers say—grows and grows.

Weapons revealed include the shotgun, the crossbow, and the Wingstick, a "bladed death boomerang with a smart nanotargeting core."

Additionally, RAGE will feature engineering gadgets—things like a remote control car with a bomb attached to it, a defense turret, and an automated sentry bot. You'll need items and ingredients to construct these devices anywhere in the game.

Like Bioshock, RAGE has an economy system that allows you to decide what weapons, ammo and gadgets you want to spend money on.
