The Sims 4: New Family Details and PC Specs to be Revealed Soon

July 22, 2014 by Stephen Daly

Maxis reiterates that the game will perform well on low-end machines.

The Sims gurus have been at it again, revealing lots of new information of the The Sims 4 ahead of the launch next month.

Graham Nardone confirmed that a disc version of the game will include a copy on Origin, he said, "Yup, the disc version will also unlock a copy of the game in your Origin account."

While the Goths have already been confirmed as a family for the game, we can expect more info in the near future, "Blog on the fiction of some of the families coming soon; watch out for it!"

Writing about houses bought from the Gallery, an online collection of both Maxis and user-made content, Nardone said:

"Your Sims need to have enough simoleons in order to place it and live in it. There's no real world money involved. When you visit another lot there is a loading screen. You can go anywhere in the public space around the lots with no load."

In relation to your Sims' Satisfaction points, he commented. "Think of them like the Lifetime Happiness points from Sims 3. You build them up to unlock rewards for your Sims."

As for why the game's UI has changed from the traditional blue to white, he said, "A bubbly bright blue UI felt a bit outdated in 2014. It was time for a change to something a bit sleeker and modern."

Another guru, Grant Rodiek, noted that there will be no vampires in the game and no weather in The Sims 4. It will be "difficult" for your Sims to live if they don't pay their water and electricity bills.

Regarding the specs needed to run the game, Lyndsey Pearson tweeted:

Hold tight simmers – we'll talk about specs soon, just finishing up some details and getting them all locked down.

Pearson, asked if Maxis stands by its assertion that The Sims 4 will perform better on low end machines than The Sims 3 replied, "I played on a low-end old laptop all of last week and I was really impressed with how well it worked. I stand by it!"

The Sims 4 launches on PC and Mac on September 2nd.
