Destiny’s Crucible Game Types Detailed

July 17, 2014 by Stephen Daly

You’ll need a team of three or six in order to play matches on the Crucible.

New information on the six Crucible game types in Destiny have been revealed via a new gallery on Imgur.

The six types are: Salvage, Skirmish, Combined Arms, Rumble, Clash, and Control. Each of the modes unlocks rewards upon successful completion including gear, reputation, and Crucible marks.

Salvage, Clash, and Control are all for 1-6 players while Skirmish, Combined Arms, and Rumble are playable with 1-3 gamers on each team. The Crucible is Destiny's dedicated competitive multiplayer arena but the game also features numerous co-operative game modes as well as the central story.

Bungie has said that you'll need to play "for a couple of hours" before unlocking multiplayer. Destiny's beta launches today on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, Bungie will expand it to Xbox 360 and Xbox One on July 23rd and it ends for all platforms on July 27th.

Those who play on July 26th will unlock a special reward for use in the game's final launch and Bungie has hinted that beta progress may carry over to release.

Destiny is set for release on September 9th.
