Originally released for the PC, Rogue Legacy is making the jump to the PS3, PS4 and PS Vita on July 29 in the US and on July 30 in Europe.
The Castlevania-like game is a 2D platform brawler with randomized levels and a unique permadeath mechanic that allows the children of your character to succeed you as you die each time. The castle itself is constantly changing, so each time your character dies, you must restart anew—though you will be able to unlock various goodies for your offspring as you make progress through the ever-changing castle.
In addition to that, every character you create has his or her own unique genetic traits, so you might be able to create a near-sighted wizard, or a knight who suffers from flatulence. The idea behind it all is to create a unique experience each time you play.
The game, which was originally developed by Cellar Door Games for the PC, is being ported to the PlayStation console platforms by Abstraction Games.
The ports will include cross buy and cross save functionality, so you’ll be able to play the game across multiple platforms. In addition, the game is set to offer all of the content released for the PC version post-launch.
