The Last of Us Remastered is headed to PS4 on July 29th in North America and on August 1st in Europe but what about a port Naughty Dog's other PS3 series, Uncharted?
Speaking to Eurogamer, Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said the adventures of Nathan Drake are frequently requested for a PS4 re-release.
"There are requests from some consumers for games that were released later in the generation, like Uncharted, which people might have missed. That would be a good candidate. We don't want to flood the market with remade games either."
Regarding the PS4 release, of The Last of Us, Yoshida said:
"One amazing statistic, to me at least, was published by Nielsen a couple of months ago. They researched the PS4, and reported that 17 per cent of PS4 owners had never owned the last gen. A completely new consumer who skipped a generation. 32 per cent additionally didn't own a PS3, but owned a 360 or Wii.
"Almost 50 per cent of people who have purchased a PS4 didn't own a PS3, and that's lots of people that missed exclusive PS3 titles like The Last of Us, so it's a great way to welcome those people back to PlayStation, saying this is what you missed."
Citing the number of players who had never owned a PS3, Sony's Josh Walker said it would be "almost unfair" not to release The Last of Us Remastered on PS4. You can check out some recent comparison images of the game on PS3 and PS4 here.
Even if the original Uncharted trilogy doesn't make it to PS4, owners of the system can look forward to Uncharted 4: A Thief's End in 2015.
Another PS3 series, Motorstorm could come to PS4 as well with Evolution Studios' senior community manager Jamie Brayshaw commenting on Twitter: "Maybe in the future. We're all about DRIVECLUB right now."
PS4 owners should expect plenty of third party games as well, as a newly published GDC Europe survey of 400 developers has shown the console to the most popular home system.
20 per cent of respondees said that they are currently working on PS4 compared to 13 per cent working on Xbox One, CVG reports. In future, the gap appears set to widen with 33 per cent of developers expecting to make a game for PS4 in future compared to 23 per cent for Xbox One.
