Fallout 4 Fans Get Respite With This Stunning Fan Tribute to Fallout 2’s Toxic Caves

June 23, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Fallout 2’s Toxic Caves have been recreated in 3D.

Anyone who’s played Fallout 2 shouldn’t have a hard time remembering the gecko-infested radioactive “Toxic Caves” that were located just north of the starting village of Klamath.

The Toxic Caves were a military warehouse of sorts, housing a powerful combat armor Mk II, a plasma pistol and a Bozar gun for any adventurer daring to tread through the toxic waste.

When I walked into the Toxic Caves, I didn’t have a pair of rubber boots in my inventory, which caused a bunion on my foot to grow into an extra toe, according to the game.

An environment artist, Roman Gluschenko, has lovingly recreated the environment of the Toxic Caves as 3D renders that put to shame any of the graphics you might have seen in either Fallout 3 or New Vegas, which brings to mind what Fallout 4 might look like once it’s released—whenever that is.
