We recently reported on how Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare developer Sledgehammer Games is shaking up the series' multiplayer and now the studio has revealed the first example of what they're doing with the game's online modes – confirming the return of Capture the Flag.
The news was revealed on Twitter by studio co-founder Michael Condrey who tweeted:
.@OpTic_BigTymeR Thanks for stopping by @SHGames to check out #AdvancedWarfare. + Not a bad showing for a rookie: pic.twitter.com/nkjdP8XbyI

Capture the Flag has been in most Call of Duty games since United Offensive but was notable absent from both the first Modern Warfare and last year's Call of Duty: Ghosts. It's unclear what steps Sledgehammer are taking to make their Capture the Flag mode stand out but the news has already been widely welcomed by fans on Reddit.
Condrey's image has also revealed two in-game factions, Atlas and the Sentinels. As of now, we don't know whether there will be more factions available. He recently said multiplayer is "a big step forward, from three years in development we've been able to innovate across the game. You're going to find that new is what it's all about."
A recent Activision survey has raised the possibility of a beta and early access entry for Advanced Warfare's multiplayer, both of which would be franchise firsts.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is coming to PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on November 4th.
