Halo 5: Guardians: Fan Plot Theory

June 13, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

It’s an interesting tale he backs up with Microsoft’s earliest trailers and teasers.

We have an interesting fan theory regarding Agent Locke and Arbiter, and their relation to Master Chief in Halo 5: Guardians.

This theory is based on two sources, the latest trailer for Halo 5, which indicates the contents of Arbiter’s book.

In said trailer, Agent Locke seems to be studying Master Chief’s actions, and getting additional input from the Arbiter. Based on Arbiter’s statements, they are somewhere between allied to neutral with Master Chief. Locke is instructed to get past the recent mythmaking of Master Chief, to understand him for who he is. It is also heavily implied that Locke is being prepped to find Master Chief, and so is being oriented in Chief’s way of thinking.

The most interesting part of said trailer is Arbiter’s statement that he does not trust Agent Locke, but he is willing to divulge information because, once again, lives are at stake. This seems to imply that whatever new threat is out there compels the Arbiter to get whatever help is possible to find Master Chief and bring him back.

In the end, the Arbiter says “the seeds of our future are sown in his (Master Chief’s) past”.

So, here’s the theory:

·         Agent Locke is the main character.

·         Arbiter is also playable.

·         In the main story, Locke and Arbiter are out looking for Master Chief.

·         In between the main story, we cut to flashbacks of Master Chief, allowing us to play as him.

·         Agent Locke is, like Master Chief, off the grid.

·         Locke is also curious about what the government is hiding.

Arbiter happens to be a very popular coop character, so our source is also hopeful that he will fill out the same role in Halo 5.

On the side, Frank O’Connor has confirmed that Kazuma Jinnouchi is completely taking over Marty O’Donnell’s job as lead composer for Halo 5. Of course, Kazuma and Marty worked on the soundtracks to the previous Halo games, so the music may vary slightly but still feel very familiar.

Halo 5: Guardians is coming out December 27 on Xbox One.
