CyberConnect2's Hiroshi Matsuyama has spoken to GameReactor about some of the influences and changes coming with Naruto Storm Revolution.
He began by saying:
"One of the main themes of the games has been to bring anime into gaming and Naruto Storm Revolution really respects Japanese TV and animation. We think fans will really like playing a game that's so like an animation. Every time we start with a Naruto Storm game, we look at the best way to express our vision and we integrate everything into our game."
Matsuyama also spoke about how the development team is using new TV technology to make "the best Naruto game".
New characters from the ongoing manga are being added "but we cannot say much about them right now and stay tuned for upcoming information." A new mode called Ninja War Tournament "we brought a new original character," Mecha Naruto.
He said fans reacted exactly the same way the developers did when they first saw the design which was surprise along the lines of "oh my God, what is this?" but Matsuyama says that once players had seen how Mecha Naruto moves, it was easier to accept the character.
The designer challenged CyberConnect2 to make the new character interesting to play and stand out against others. He said it was important to make the game easy to play for fans around the world regardless of their demographic but he added that Naruto Storm Revolution will appeal to hardcore fighting game fans too which has led to the implentation of a new battle system allowing for more strategies.
Naruto Storm Revolution is coming to PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 later this year.
