The Sims 4 Information Blowout: Build Trailer, Beach Houses, Merchandise, And More

May 31, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Maxis has unveiled a batch of information about the game.

We have new information on upcoming content and merchandise for The Sims 4.

So, there are some spoiler screens sharing what we can expect in the game. We know you’ll look at some of these and say that these are self-evident, but we want you to consider how they will relate to gameplay. With that in mind, here we go:

We’ve confirmed the game is going to have cars, trash (via trash cans), gardening, and houses placed over water. By the latter, we mean houses placed fronting the seaside, possibly on the edge of a cliff or very close to sea level. Cars and trash, we agree, would be pretty requisite, but gardening could be expanded with the leap in gaming processing power since the last game. Houses by the sea could also be an interesting variation, dependent on whether Maxis makes use of it.

Another source has confirmed that The Sims 4 will have beach towns, which will be a fun leisurely option. Will you be able to build a home next to that beach to work in a resort? Frankly, I would be surprised if you could not.

Now for the big one. Our source has gone through the Build Mode Gameplay trailer with a lot of nice details. Rather than run them down one by one, we’ll let you choose how to get up to date. You can watch a trailer analysis below, and an Imgur gallery of screenshots from the video under that.

Finally, let’s take a look at Steelseries’ official merchandise, which they have revealed early. There’s an official mouse, which can be customized to blink different colors to correspond with the game you’re playing. There’s also an official headset, with illumination on opposite sides you can also customize to match the game you’re playing. Finally, there’s a QCK mousepad with nice little Sims 4 art on it. The pad is made of high quality cloth, and is built for a gaming standard.

We’re sure you can find even more details we may have missed, anything else here catch your fancy? Feel free to share in the comments below. The Sims 4 is coming to Windows and Mac OS X in the 2nd half of 2014.
