Citadel Studios recently launched the Kickstarter campaign for their ambitious MMO game Shards Online. Their funding goal is $320,000 and they have raised $29,849 so far with 26 days left to go.
"Shards Online is breaking away from the modern MMO conventions of levels, classes and quest grinds. We are returning to living virtual worlds where stories emerge naturally as players explore the worlds laid out before them," their page reads. "The game will launch with a complete game containing several official rule-sets. Our current plans include one with a well balanced set of gameplay, a hardcore PvP battle-royale, and even one featuring permanent character death: the ultimate game of risk versus reward."
Players will be able to run their own servers at an unspecified price. However, the developer noted that they are only going to charge just enough to cover costs. The game boasts a dynamic living world, freedom from being locked into a class, any much more.
Based from the video, Citadel Studios aim to rectify and fill what most modern MMOs get wrong or lack. The page offers a comparison of the game's features with most MMOs out to there to give people a gist on why they stand out from the pack.

The developer offers a variety of perks for the different pledge levels and they aren't shy with giving players some goodies to thank them for their support.
