The hook of Kirby Triple Deluxe is collecting keychains, keychains, keychains. The placement of common keychains may have been randomized, but rare keychains are found in the same places every time. For this guide, we go through where each keychain is located.
Fine Field 1-1: Star Rod
When you’re using Hypernova to position the ball to take down the pillar, you need to wait until the ball glows. The keychain will be waiting for you at the lower right of the pillar.
Fine Field 1-2: Dyna Blade
After beating the boss, go to the next room. Before you enter the next door, fly directly above it to get the keychain.
Fine Field 1-3: Triple Star
Your landmark is the Big Waddle Dee. Cut the grass near him to reveal the 3D Warp Star. You’ll want to take out the enemy hiding in the grass next to it as well. Ride the Star, move right, destroy the Bomb in the floor to open up a path to the next keychain.
Fine Field 1-4: Dark Matter
The landmark here is another 3D Warp Star. On the other side, turn right and move into a hidden path towards the keychain.
Fine Field 1-6: Magical Paintbrush
You’ll need to keep your eyes sharp here. There’s a point in the stage where a tree will fall down to release a 3D Warp Star. Use the Star, and then strike the tree on the left. Take the 2nd Star that appears to return to the foreground and go down the pit to open the treasure chest and get the keychain.
Lollipop Land 2-1: Starship
It’s at the part of the stage where you face the 2nd candy tank. Hit the crate to the left to get it.
Lollipop Land 2-2: Master Sword
When you resurface from the water, there will be a keychain hiding from the ceiling, a little to the left. Fly up after it, and when you see it, step on the platform and shoot an arrow across the spikes to make it come down.
Lollipop Land 2-3: Love-Love Stick
When you beat the boss, a 3D Warp Star appears. Use it and then float above from where the door is to find a hidden area. Hit the bomb to get the keychain.
Lollipop Land 2-4: Dark Daroach
The keychain is just at the other side of the tent when you’re done with the stage. Just float up to see and get it.
Lollipop Land 2-6: Meta Knight
This one’s not so easy. There’s a key hiding below the 3rd of the falling walls. You need to get it before it, or you, get crushed. The key will allow you to retrieve a 3D World Star, which will then bring you to the keychain.
Old Odyssey 3-1: Whispy Woods
There’s a bomb hiding below some blocks, near a train tracks. Use whatever form you have at hand to destroy the blocks and ignite the bomb. This will open up a path to the left of the tracks that leads to the keychain.
Old Odyssey 2-1: 10 Kirbys
When you beat the boss, you take a 3D World Star to the door. Open up the left to get a one-up. Turn right, and then float above the door to find the hiding keychain.
Old Odyssey 3-1: Masked Dedede
There’s a 3D World Star that leads to an active cannon. Taking care to avoid the cannonballs, jump over it and move left, and then below to find a hidden path to the keychain. A word of warning: you’ll need to float your way to it.
Old Odyssey 3-4: Rainbow Drop
The path to this one is really mysterious. You’ll find a hole after going back to the foreground of said stage. At the other side is a cannon throwing you into another cannon on a line. You’ll want to tilt all the way to the right and blast out of there. You’ll hit a bunch of stars before finally getting to the keychain.
Old Odyssey 3-5: Nightmare Wizard
There’s a part of the stage where you are thrown into a sequence of cannons. When you get to another fuse, drop down to the right. There, you’ll find a treasure chest with said keychain.
Old Odyssey 3-7: Captain Vul
The igloo on the left that’s throwing out those snowballs? Time to enter it to get the keychain in there. There are enemies inside too.
Wild World 4-1: Gold Waddle Dee
There’s a point in the underground tunnels where you’ll find a flower enemy. If you float on top of its location you’ll find the keychain.
Wild World 4-2: Dimension Mirror
You’d miss it if you didn’t check, but at the left of the final door is a small dark corner. Swim your way into the corner and you’ll find an interesting trap. You yourself are in a waterfalls, and at the other side is the keychain surrounded by 3D World Stars. Use the Star on your side to get to the other side, and then carefully make your way to the keychain without hitting a star first.
Wild World 4-3: UFO Kirby
There’s a room with a spiked staircase. Find the one step without spikes. When you step on it you get to a hidden area. Strike the block to make the treasure chest with the keychain drop and catch it before the platform falls. It does not look like you can get the 1-Up and chest at the same time.
Wild World 4-4: Shocked Dedede
When you get to the area with the Bandana Waddle Dee in the background, ignore it first. Float up to the right to a hidden path with a treasure chest, where the keychain is.
Wild World 4-5: Marx
This is a fun stage, where you get equipped with a cannon helmet, and use it to destroy blocks in the background. You have to destroy the block holding the treasure chest. Rush to the 3D World Star and get to it before it drops, it has the keychain.
Wild World 4-7: Boss Butch
This is a complicated stage. You’re going around with a hammer, moving across a multilevel stage, and making your way down. Most of the floors have moving sand, but you can think of them as treadmills. There’s a point where if you move left, you’ll find a 3D World Star. As soon as you get there, you’ll see three keys go down in rapid succession. If you move fast enough, you can get all keys to open the three layers of locks, and access the keychain.
Endless Explosions 5-1: Skullord
When you get to the room with the 3rd Sun Stone, go left. Go all the way left (it’s a long, dangerous trek) and there, you’ll find the keychain.
Endless Explosions 5-2: Nightmare’s Power Orb
Make your way to the room with the water bubbles. Left of the door are three lava blocks above you. Use whatever you have to throw water at them to open up the path to the keychain above them.
Endless Explosions 5-3: Drawcia
The 1st Sun Stone room has one of those cannon arrangements. Aim for the cannon on the top left. This will bring you to another room where you can then go after the keychain, using another cannon and motion controls.
Endless Explosions 5-4: Marx Soul
This stage has rooms with revolving walls, and you need to make your way to where the windows are so you can pass safely. In the second room, go straight to the right, and destroy the block below to reveal the keychain.
Endless Explosions 5-5: Dark Matter
There is a 3D Warp Star that will take you to the boss. Ignore this star and make you way above it. There is a hidden 2nd Warp Star there, that will take you to a door to another room. The keychain is in this room, but it’s in a treasure chest in the background, in the middle. There are enemies in the foreground as well, so it’s your prerogative how you get to the background to get it. Just do it.
Endless Explosions 7-1: Yin Yarn
There’s a part of the stage where you are running away from spiked wall, moving right. Keep your eyes peeled for a key hiding one of the higher platforms, in between the ceiling and the floor. Keep moving right to use the key to open up the path to the keychain above.
Royal Road 1-1: Galacta Knight
There’s a part of the game where you’re at the background and next to a bridge. Fly to the left of that bridge and find a hidden path below to a keychain
Royal Road 2-1: Dark Mind
This one is a little crazy, since it’s in the middle of the Kracko boss fight. The keychain is in the back scaffolding, and you’ll need to use a cannon Kracko drops down to get there.
Royal Road 3-1: Sweet Stuff Drawing
This one is a repeat of Fine Field 1-1. This time, you need to use Hypernova on a series of two trees to tear some breakable logs down. Go to the lower path, take out the bug below (just suck him), and then take the Black Hole. Now, you’ll find yourself at the train tracks, and at the leftside track a train will be coming carrying a treasure chest. To make the train stop moving, suck him. I’m serious. The train will drop the chest and the keychain inside for you to pick up.
Royal Road 4-1: King Dedede Drawing
There’s a part in the stage where it looks like you’re in a giant floating square. If you float up to the upper left, you’ll see a breakable wall. Go out, and take the cannon, so that it can bring you to the keychain and send you back in.
Royal Road 5-1: Golden Egg Statue
OK, this one will be hard to track. There will be a series of floating platforms where you will find yourself constantly moving left and right, to the foreground and the background. You will eventually find a pink platform, with a row of five metal blocks, and a bug enemy on top. The keychain is below that platform, fly to the bottom to get it.
Royal Road 7-1: Magolor
So, there’s a part of the stage, with revolving walls again, where you can get the fire ability. To its right is a set of 9 ice blocks surrounded by a revolving wall. Melt those blocks to get the key. Now, later in the stage, you will find an iceman, and can take the ice ability from him. Below him, in between another revolving door, is another key. After getting it, make your way to the right to the lock below, and use your ice ability to free up the keychain.
Royal Road 8-1: Taranza
See that door with a b&w Kirby and Dedede moving in the back? Float above that door and make your way to the moon on the wall. It will bring you to a hidden area where you can float downwards to some sweets and a keychain floating on top the door to get out.
Finally, the mere act of collecting Sun Stones gets you one final rare keychain: Queen Sectonia. Collecting all the Sun Stones, now that’s a different guide.
