UPDATE: 343 Industries has responded to speculation surrounding the video with an update on the Halo Waypoint forums stating:
"The Xbox One dashboard images shown in the recently released 'Xbox One Design Show' video, were placeholder and not indicative of future game content. As previously stated, your next ‘Halo’ journey will begin in 2014, and we’ll have more detail to share at E3 in June."
ORIGINAL STORY: A new video from Microsoft has made the briefest of references to Halo 5.
The footage mostly concerns the Xbox One's hardware and software features but at the 0:51 minute mark there's a quick nod to the upcoming game and this is significant given that Microsoft has been reluctant to actually give the title a name thus far.
The reference in question is nothing more than text on screen and could well be nothing more than a playful poke at Halo fans. There is no 'Pit Bear' Xbox Live Gold Account and Haven is a Halo 4 map.
Regarding the name, Microsoft has commented:
"As we have stated previously, the award-winning franchise continues on Xbox One, beginning in 2014. We have no further details to share at this time."
When the game was announced at E3 last year, the trailer simply referred to it as 'Halo'. Former Xbox boss Don Mattrick did call the game 'Halo 5' while still at the company though it's possible plans have changed since his departure last year.
There have also been plenty of rumours that Microsoft plans to release Halo 2: Anniversary in November and include a beta invitiation to Halo 5.
Current Xbox president Phil Spencer has said 343 Industries has a "great plan" in place for Microsoft's E3 media briefing next month.
