Following the announcement earlier today that Call of Duty 2014 will be officially revealed this Sunday, May 4th, Activision has formed a partnership with Vice for a documentary on private military companies or PMCs.
Activision launched a teaser site for the next installment in the franchise with a countdown timer to the reveal but investigation of the site's source code reveals links to several webpages on PMCs.
The next Call of Duty title sees traditional nation state superpowers replaced by these large PMCs and you can check out the 'Superpower for Hire' video below which asks whether it's actually feasible for a private company to be the world's most powerful military. The video's description reads, "In the last 20 years, global combat has seen a steady shift towards the use of private military corporations, or PMCs. What happens when the highest bidder becomes the world's next superpower?"
Also released is a new chart showing the scale of PMCs operating in the world today.
Not much is known about the game, but it will be set in the future and the image of the Golden Gate Bridge burning appears to confirm a West Coast U.S. setting for at least part of Call of Duty 2014.
